Nasosi’s Story
OK, please tell me if this doesn’t make sense. This is the end of the book that was climaxed in the climax challenge (HinM, qt, and Nome, that's not what I meant!). This is Nasosi telling Sana’s grand, existential story to her half-sister several years later. But it would be cool if it could stand alone, as well.

I'm sorry, I know this is a pain. The deal is, if we want to submit any of our stories to a publisher, they have to be locked up. That means, to get to the good ones, you have to do just a little bit of work.
Go to this link. The password is "challenge". Look for "091028_torainfor_halloween.rtf"--that's mine. Feel free to read the others, of course.

The evil corporation Hydro Unlimited is threatening to drill into the Sea of Tranquility to harvest the great under-ground lake to provide water for the Moon colonies. This must be stopped!
It is well known among Feng Shui practitioners that “Qi rides the wind and scatters, but is retained when encountering water.” That is why Greenspace is asking for your help.
A consortium of evil, money-grabbing, opportunists are planning to defile the perfection of our nearest celestial neighbor for their own benefit. Hydro Unlimited, as double-faced as its namesake the Hydra, has already begun work on an excavation of the Sea of Tranquility. What once was the center of qi will soon become a desolate pile of slag and chaos.
What we need on the Moon isn’t to consume the precious water resource, but to use it wisely to benefit the inhabitants and their environment. The water should be released, but as an aid to a harmonizing cycle. Wood, the element of warmth, strength, and flexibility, is sorely lacking on our nearest neighbor. The Sea of Tranquility should be cultivated, not destroyed. Trees, whose roots reach deep into the barren soil, would aid in the balance. The Moon already contains earth, metal, and the fire of the Sun. Now we know it contains water as well. The addition of wood would bring the Moon into perfect harmony with its qi.
Please write, email, and astral-project your support of our cause to your local congress-being and Hydro Unlimited. We should not vandalize the Moon for our own greed, but shape it into the balanced being it can be.

I haven't entered a weekly challenge in a bit, but I did this week. Thing is, it's the climax of my current WIP, and I didn't want it to be public. If you'd like to read it--and you don't mind reading the big scene in a book not finished yet--go here and type in the word "challenge". It's the "chapter-28" file. Sorry about the formatting, I had to save it as a txt file and didn't realize what drama that would cause!
Oh, my loyal readers (all two of you!) I am embarking on a project and I need your help. Please review the following stories and check your favorites. All commenters will receive a gift around Christmas time. I changed the journal settings so even HinM should be able to comment, but you'll need to leave a comment so I know who you are.
Thanks!

Alas, my LJ friends will probably not understand this one at all. It was based on challenge, and hopefully inspires you to check out the community, yourself.

On the advice of a friend who knows, I'm starting a new book. It's Christian YA, inspired by NW Native American legends and customs. It's about a girl whose mother is a Sea-Person, with webs and thick skin for swimming, and whose father was a Sky-Person, with wings. For the "One Sheet"--a single page wherein you try to sell the book, I decided to try to do an illustration. Whatya think?

Entry for the Friday Challenge. What do you do with a prisoner that out-lives his life sentence?

I've been bebloggled!
I am being encouraged (compelled...cajoled...) by my writing mentor to write a Christian young adult fantasy novel. She actually mentioned it after reading a story where I integrated (poorly) this story into one with the characters from this one. In fact, she wanted the book to arise from these characters in this world.
I had a really hard time with that. I love these characters, but I see them much more as my (hopeful!) break into short-story magazines. How do you take a cynical Leipreachan, a drunken Cluricain, and a vain fairy and turn it into Christian YA?
Anyway, I think I have an idea to run with. It'll be interesting to see how it pans out. I want to create my own world, but borrow from Tlingit and Irish legends. And give it a subtle Christian bent.
In other news, the line-edit on my second novel, The Veil of Venus is done. There's nothing left to do but dutifully take chapters to the writers' group and try to figure out how to sell it. Unless (which is quite likely) I learn more about this crazy writing thing, in which case I'll have to edit it again.
It's sequel, Center of Gravity is patiently waiting in the wings. I started line-editing it, and I'll probably continue as I figure out this new one. It sometimes helps to have two projects on the burner in case you get blocked or bored with one.
I need to go pick up the Creature at the bus stop--seein' as how it's hailing and thundering--but when I get back, remind me to post some of Veil of Venus. (Nope, cheese and wench, you haven't even seen this part, yet!)

def: to Snowdog: to procrastinate until the last minute or possibly later.
This week's challenge was to complete a challenge from a week you didn't complete a challenge. I picked the superhero one from 3 April. It's a little long, but I kinda like it.

Yet another entry for the Friday Challenge. This one is inspired by Pride and Prejudice and Zombies--take a classic and add a fanboy element. It is not a complete story, just background information and a synopsis for a novel.

This week's entry to the Friday Challenge. For this challenge, we were to assume all the world-making and character-introducing was done and over with, and sit down to write chapter five of a book of our choosing. Mine is not only chapter five, it's book three. If it leaves you completely confused yet wanting more, I've done my job.
